Lawrence was an unabashed motorbike enthusiast. He swerved to avoid the boys, sideswiping one of them. The impact caused Lawrence to hurtle over his bike's handlebars and, six days later, he died of his injuries.
His death would actually save lives , by leading to research into helmet usage. By , the only remaining gap in the line was located in the mountains of southern Turkey.
