Years later she sees an article about a girl she thinks is her daughter, who lives in Santa Cruz, and applies for a job in a sandwich shop. As she works there she gets to know the staff.

Tish is a babe, she tries to seduce every guy who comes into the shop, and she goes home with those who flirt back.

Jen, a computer nerd who has a love affair online with a guy who calls himself fuzzy She's not as pretty as Tish and she struggles with self-confidence.

And there's a crazy haired guy called Priestly; he's not like other guys and dresses different then everyone because he refuses to be "another clone".

Piper's boss is a really nice guy named Trucker, who's in love with a woman who owns the store across the street. The audience goes through the sandwich shop crew's personal struggles as they help I have to admit it.

I feared this movie would be WB fare because of the actors involved and the many young audience members at the film festival where I saw it who seemed, shall we say, infatuated by certain actors in the film.

The girl next to me said "Oh I love him" or similar comments every time the character Priestly came on. Because at film festivals cast and crew and their families and friends often turn up, I was tempted to ask her if she knew the actor, such were her expressed feelings of seeming familiarity with him.

My husband, actually, had wanted to see this film which could be, at first glance, dismissed as a "chick flick".

However, I was pleasantly surprised at the snappy dialog, good plot, fun characters, and genuine emotion that this film registered.

I also loved the feelings of camaraderie among the main characters in the film. It is a heart warming film and I highly recommend it.

Ten Inch Hero was okay, I guess, but plays more like something Nora Ephron had cobbled together in an afternoon in her backyard.

What I was expecting was a film similar in tone to Empire Records, about quirky people connecting against the backdrop of a sandwich shop one of my many loves.

Romantic comedies are all well and good, but as a fan of narrative deconstructions on Cracked. The female protagonists in this movie are all neurotic messes or emotional cripples: there's the woman who stands up her internet boyfriend because she thinks that he's too hot to like her, the nymphochick who'll screw anyone except the smoldering Goth guy she works with and, my personal favorite, the young woman who fancies herself an artist that has taken to psychotically stalking her neighbour because she's under the impression that his daughter is the child she gave up when she was young.

Is the creepiness of her behaviour invisible to the world of this movie? One of the things I resented about this movie is that it falls into the trap of so many teen movies in that it implies that the best way to score the affections of your crush is to throw away your own identity and forge a new one to better suit thier tastes.

It's so sad. It also taught me that the object of your obsession will forgive obviously malignant behaviour if you can prove that you meant well, and that promiscuity is not a sign of freaky sexual appetites, but rather of emotional immaturity.

I don't expect a lot of realism from rom-coms, but this movie was utterly fraught with reminders of its own artifice and contrivance. Jobs seemingly fall out of the sky in Santa Cruz, and the samdwich shop is run by a dude who's so laid back that he's willing to shut down his business while half his unprofessional staff absconds with his bus on a road trip so that one of them can get laid.

I for one would never eat at Beach City Grill. Not only is the service terrible, but food safety standards here seem to be a little bit lax. If you won't respect each others' feelings, closed adoption laws or the rules of fashion, at least respect the mighty sandwich!

Emily A Super Reviewer. Aug 26, I really liked this movie. I though it was gonna be another cliche movie about preps, nerds, and freaks, but it was the opposite in a way.

The characters are all very different in a really good way. A sandwich shop owned by a "hippie" is like a home for all the offbeats.

Just a group of five friends trying to figure out love and where it plays a role in their lives. Really enjoyed Jensen Ackles character, and he played it well.

He had a lot of different hairstyles, shirts with funny comments, and said some offbeat stuff. He was my favorite in the movie. Just really pleasantly surprised by this movie.

It touched on some serious issues as well. Like peer pressure, teen pregnancy, adoption, and just people being judged by their outer appearance. A fun watch, that I think a lot of people will enjoy.

Jul 08, A sweet movie. It had some funny moments and some touching moments. There are some good lessons to be learned too. It was cute. On the flip side, it was predictable almost every step of the way, and in the end its happy endings for everyone.

So its not especially realistic in that sense but its still a sweet film nonetheless. I dont regret watching it and will probably watch it again.

Apr 11, I'm sure it sells better though. It's about the staff of the nice, cozy restaurant and their lives. What I'd like to point out, the characters are very well written, all of them are very appealing with whatever they're going through and have to say.

They're revealing their true nature throughout the whole movie in sort of subplots that actually create the common multiplot of the movie.

The nature of the film is a warm comedy, and bit of romance that comes in very non intrusive way. The acting is great, the scenes are OK and dialogs, funny and interesting.

This movie deserves a high rating but as my expectations were low and experience great, mathematically speaking, it would deserve even more.

If all comedies were this clever and witty, I would sure watch them more often.
