What an absolutely beautifully portrayed story of one of history's great love affairs. No fictional movie plot could possibly match the intrigue, romance, drama, and interpersonal relationships that are set forth by this cast of characters from real history.

If you are a fan of women's rights, then watch with awe as this young 18 year old queen manages her duty as the queen of the most powerful country in the world 18th century England , her growing family, the affairs of state, and her love relationship with her devoted husband.

This is truly a masterpiece Well Done - PBS - you should devote more of your efforts to works like this and less to politics.

I'm a historian so I tend to judge movies about important historical events, places and people rather harshly but the overall history was true enough and whatever creative license the writers used worked brilliantly to hold it all together.

In this movie Queen Victoria is made human. Her relationship with the gallant, highly principled Lord Melbourne was poignant and were he not the man he was, quite possibly British history would have been very different.

His tender concern for her, protectiveness and shrewd mentoring helped create a queen -- but if Melbourne helped Victoria become a queen, it was brooding, intense Albert who made her a woman.

It is truly astonishing that a royal marriage, so assiduously pushed on both of them, could have indeed been one of such deep love. What are the odds?

I really enjoyed all 4 episodes. Well done! If you love great acting and directing, virtuous heroes, and historical dramas, you will love this new series from PBS.

The producer of the show researched the lives of Victoria and Albert extensively, and her efforts have paid off enormously.

The writers, director, and actors do a masterful job of weaving together several simultaneous storylines associated with characters at all layers of the social strata in early 19th century England.

The most moving of all the stories is that of the deep and enduring love the King and Queen have for each other, which survives a staggering number of stressful events, circumstances, and people.

I accidentally started watching this. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. There is something that makes you want to watch the next episode. It is a good mix of love,happiness, sadness and relationships.

You will need to cross at least 2 episodes to start really liking it. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's character are well defined and as you keep watching the episodes their characters are revealed more and more.

I also like they show the life of the servants. I am really looking for the second season. Victoria is really good in my opinion.

I'm not a historian, I don't know the details of Victoria's life or have an academic's viewpoint to critique the show with, and that's not the show's purpose anyway.

It's purpose is to tell a good, entertaining story that has a base in actual history, and that's what it does. I think Jenna Coleman was a fantastic choice to play Victoria.

I could barely recognize her when I started watching because she looks so different, she really molds into the role. The show really displays how Victoria's experiences shape her as a young queen and how she grows into such an important role.

The show starts to get really addicting when Albert shows up, and I think you'll agree. Victoria is on the same viewing pleasure scale as Downton Abbey, Poldark, and other Masterpiece Theater productions.

In other words it is a joy to watch. Jenna Coleman is wonderful as Victoria. I choose to stream it as oppose to purchasing a DVD because I heard that each episode is the original British version, and is not edited for American viewers.

I am enjoying this series because I like costume drama. The acting is well done and the costumes are impeccable. But if you came to this looking for hard history this will not be your cup of tea.

I am taking off a star because of the lack of historical detail and I am very annoyed at the fact that I paid for this full series but am unable to get it in timely manner.

I think in future I would like Amazon to tell me that I will NOT be getting the episodes until well after the air date If I could return it I would have.

What a beautiful love story! I felt I was living it with them. The acting is amazing. Genau diese zu Beginn etwas zähe Heranführung wirkt dabei unheimlich authentisch, und schon werde ich als Zuschauer zum Komplizen der zunehmend illegalen Aktionen und missgeschickten Ereignisse, deren Protagonisten dabei aber auch fast aussichtslos unfreiwillig hineingezogen wurden.

It does portray forcefully and realistically process whereby basically good people can make spontaneous decisions that take them on to the slippery slope.

Shooting this in a single take is a gimmick, of course, and it does the film no favours - it could have done with some editing.

Because it's inevitably shot in real time, for the first hour or so we're treated to a slice of what four blokes and a girl can do together in a city in the early morning, which is mostly drinking and chatting and enjoying themselves by messing about.

The director might say that it's telling us something about the characters and their relationships, but this could have been done in half the time or less - this bit could and should have been edited.

Once they get themselves involved in an armed robbery, the single take works much better - it gives the impression of panic as the robbery goes wrong and the escape goes even wronger.

There's a bit in a club after the robbery's finished and before the police catch up with them, which suffers from the same problems as the first 55 minutes, and could have been cut down or out, but the rest is very effective.

In short - don't be put off by the first 55 minutes, which shot in real time is ponderously slow, because the same technique in the rest of the film is very effective and well-paced.

This movie is a tour de force, the real one-shot-film. You don't need to admire the planning of the whole thing, just watch a very good movie about a nice girl who messed with the wrong boys at the disco.
